AKRON, OH, November 16, 2020 Michael J. Walzer has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For a senior high school project, Michael J. Walzer taught at a Catholic grade school during the last 9 weeks, which initially inspired him to pursue a career in education. He also offered tutoring services in his spare time. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Kent State University, he ventured into his dream job. For 30 years, Mr. Walzer worked at Akron Public Schools in various positions. He taught grades five through nine as a math, science and history teacher, and he worked as a soccer and track coach. Over the years, Mr. Walzer developed a great appreciation for teachers in special education, physical education and art, especially when he was a substitute teacher in those classes.

Before embarking on his career journey, Mr. Walzer was a high school athlete. He placed 13th in the state of Ohio as a middle-distance runner. He won numerous ribbons for track competitions in high school. In addition to his duties in education, Mr. Walzer has also written several poems. Two of his poems were published by Eber and Wein Publishing in 2014 and 2017. He has attributed his professional success to his upbringing and faith. Civically, he has volunteered his time as a poll worker and donates to the Kent State Alumni Association high school scholarship fund. In the coming years, Mr. Walzer plans to continue hiking with the Akron Hiking Club. He would also like to become a foster parent
